ALFRED C THOMPSON II My job is to help Computer Science professors in New England colleges and universities develop curriculum that uses Microsoft technology in the classroom. Lately I have also been working with high school computer science teachers as well. Work email is AlfredTh at microsoft.com 1999 – As
Technology Coordinator I was responsible for the schools technology
infrastructure including the school-wide local area network, Internet connection
and computer hardware and software. I developed policies for computer use, assisted
in the selection of both academic and administrative software, and supervised the
school's technical support person and a database administrator. I
provided regular in-service training to teachers and staff from all departments
to help them integrate technology in their own disciplines and for their
personal productivity and professional growth. I am also on the Computer Science
Department advisory board for 1995
- 2003 Taught a variety of courses including Advanced Placement Computer Science. Other courses taught in previous years include, Visual Basic Programming, C++ Programming, Basic Computer Applications, PASCAL Programming and Multi Media Applications. As department head, I was responsible for maintaining a current curriculum including new and updated courses and supervising textbook selection. I led the expansion of the Computer Science curriculum to include 8 different courses. I supervised the department's full and part-time teachers. 2000 - 2002 Taught
a number of courses including computer applications, operating systems, C++ and

the Developer Tools marketing group on strategies and tools for assisting
education through curriculum course development and materials for educators.
Contribute design ideas and content for the Academic Coop web site. Wrote a
widely used book of projects for instructors of Visual Basic programming. I have
also written material for Mainfunction.Com,
an on-line magazine, sponsored by Microsoft, for computer teachers. 1996,1998
Taught
two courses each summer during the 1996 and 1998 Summer Sessions. Taught C++
Programming, Pascal Programming, Introduction to Computers, and Internet and
HTML to students from schools from around the 1994- 1995 Infant Jesus School - Computer Teacher & Technology coordinator (Part Time) Responsible for developing and delivering computer aided instruction to students from kindergarten to grade 6. 1994- 1995 St. Joseph Regional School - Computer Teacher & Technology coordinator (Part Time) Responsible for developing and delivering computer instruction to students from grade 4 to grade 8. Developed and delivered adult education courses in PC applications including Windows, word processing and spreadsheet software. Held a variety of software engineering positions involving system management, operating system development and large scale system testing. While with an operating system development group I was the version release engineer. Along with developing the print and batch system for the OS I was responsible for designing, building and testing the build and installation procedures. This involved interfacing with marketing and support groups regarding installation (including packaging) and support issues. Held a number of technical sales support jobs for computer manufacturers. Also developed applications software on a number of platforms and a number of languages for a software house.
